New Start... New Blog...

Ok... so a bit of a reflective blog...

Its been a whole year since my transplant (this time last year I was still in hospital recovering)... If you have been following this blog for a long time you will have read about my ups, downs, triumphs and TEARS!

You will have read about my struggles with dialysis, life at university, my amazing family, my campaigning and of course my journey to transplant!

However I feel the blog URL http://lifeondialysis--waitingforthecall.blogspot.com/ isn't appropriate anymore! I will always remember my time one dialysis and my time waiting for the call but it just doesn't fit with where I am in my life right now...

So its time for a change.... I have a new URL a new look... so why not pop on over to my brand spanking NEW BLOG!

It will still have all my old postings so you will still be able to look back at them....

All the best. It's been a month since I had my transplant, to the day, and whilst I have two more months of hermit like life, am pleased for you and to read of your successes.

Keep up the good work.

Dear Holly, as an internist I have been working with a lot of young patients like you who are on 2-3 x per week dialysis and/ or kidney transplantation. Ive also seen most of them survive and go on with their work, studies and even their love life! I have faith that the Lord has plans for each of us and He alone knows our time. Good luck! I like young, vibrant, trusting young people like you. I hope you succeed in your goals.

Thank you for sharing this post and shining a light on what
can be a confusing subject. With so much information out there it’s
nice to have the material narrowed down to a simple presentation
of the facts.

I have known I had chronic kidney failure for the past few years, since my doctor informed me that my GFR had dropped to 18 and to get prepared for dialysis. I thought this was very fatalistic so I started researching on my own.
I started following a diet for blood pressure related kidney failure. Two weeks later I had another blood test and my GFR was 21. After two more weeks, my GFR was 23. I was overjoyed with such fast results.
It's been 6 years since my original diagnosis and I now feel that by sticking to my diet and vitamin plan I can hold off dialysis for the rest of my life
In case you're wondering, this website contains the diet regimen that I know follow:

Hope it helps anyone reading this! Hope it helps anyone reading this!
